cacao ceremony
Cacao is a sACred -and delicious- plant medicine. Mother Cacao gifts us with numerous beneficial healing properties for the body, heart, emotions, and Spirit.
Cacao is a natural mood-enhancer, as it increases serotonin levels in the brain, creating a feeling of relaxation and well-being. The stimulating effect of cacao is due to its vasodilating action, which stimulates the heart, widens the blood vessels, and increases blood flow. The flavonols found in cacao dilate blood vessels and in doing so decrease blood pressure.
It is also a good source of manganese, magnesium, copper, iron, and fiber. Cacao is also full of antioxidants is great for your skin and brain.
The compound in cacao called Theobromine has a similar effect as caffeine. In the 1840s, biologists in Central and South America referred to the Cacao trees as “Theobroma,” which means “food of the gods” in Greek. This compound has been known to increase Chi, circulate energy and create a blissful, up-lifting effect. Cacao is referred as a sacred and Divine substance and highly revered in many culture worldwide for ages. Who doesn't love chocolate?
look within and see yourself at a deeper level.
We use the Cacao as a way to acknowledge the Divinity within. There becomes an awareness without overstimulation. Cacao gets us in touch with the mind and body creating the feeling of being in tune with all senses and emotions. During the Ceremony, Chelsea invokes the great spirit of Mother Cacao to lovingly guide us as we journey together. We call in the spirit of the directions and guides and spirit animals as we set into a positive intention for the ceremony. Feeling aligned with spirit, we sacramentally drink the cacao and connect with our heart center. Gently and soothingly, Cacao lets us be in touch with the most vulnerable aspect of oneself. Resting the mind, resting the body. Appreciating a more clear sense of self.
*There is caffeine in raw cacao products. Because of this, large amounts should not be taken by those who are pregnant or breastfeeding (small amounts are ok, I did it when I was pregnant). Those with diabetes, diarrhea, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), or Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), should also be cautious when consuming cacao. Additionally, those with anxiety, heart conditions, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, glaucoma, or osteoporosis should be wary of the caffeine found in cacao.
